2008 Annual Appeal

Dear Friends,

The challenges of global poverty and development remain stark:
  • 2 billion people worldwide live on less than 2 dollars a day
  • 32 million men, women and children have fled their homes
  • Over 33 million people are living with HIV
  • 140 million women and girls have been victims of female genital cutting
You can leverage the effectiveness of development efforts throughout the world by contributing to the Development Gateway.

We support the efforts of development practitioners who are on the front lines in the fight to end poverty. Our mission is to use information technology to help the people who make a difference on the ground. The tools we provide help to enhance transparency in government procurement, strengthen the effectiveness of aid coordination and development spending, and share knowledge among development professionals on what works best.

In 2007, we expanded our knowledge-sharing network by adding online communities in Arabic and Chinese. In 2008, we are planning to launch new communities on post-disaster stabilization and disaster prevention. We are continuing to improve our knowledge-sharing platforms to better serve you. Our inspiration comes from your success stories, like the activist in Lima who uses our knowledge-sharing platforms to educate women on their rights. Click here to read her story.

None of this would be possible without our partners and individual contributors. You can support this work by making a secure on-line donation now.

Contributions to the Development Gateway Foundation, a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code, are tax deductible to the maximum amount permitted by law.

Together we serve.
