Fund a Country Gateway

Country Gateways should be financially independent and sustainable over the long-term. They develop their own programs and services through a diversity of donor funding, in-kind partnerships and paid services.

However, initial seed funding is usually required to get a new Country Gateway started. In addition, successful Country Gateways need help to start new initiatives or expand the reach of existing programs.

Fund a new Country Gateway

Some Development Gateway Foundation donors ask to target funds directly toward the creation of new Country Gateways. Development Gateway Foundation identifies local partners and works with them to create a framework that clearly outlines the goals, project management process, timeline, legal status and governance structure and disbursement policies, including monitoring and evaluation. This helps establish and nurture new initiatives, while ensuring that local partners meet their obligations. Local partner groups may include government agencies, nonprofit organizations, local companies, and even some other donor organizations.

To support this effort, Development Gateway Foundation offers technical and strategic assistance, including software platforms that they may use. And with nearly 50 Country Gateways already in place, new initiatives have a large network of experience to draw upon.

Help an Existing Country Gateway

Public and private donors interested in supporting existing Country Gateways can do so in several ways:

• Donate funds to Development Gateway Foundation’s Country Gateway Support program to ensure that we can continue providing technical, strategic and grant assistance.
• Donate funds directly to a Country Gateway of your choice.
• Provide direct in-kind assistance, such as technology, consulting, services, equipment or staff. This can also be through partnership initiatives that give exposure or new expertise to the Country Gateway.
• Assist in providing or reviewing development-related content on Country Gateway Web sites.
