Grants have been awarded to the countries listed below, and several others are in planning stages. Development Gateway Foundation continues to evaluate additional projects as funding allows. Grants are typically under $500,000, although co-funding may increase the value of overall assistance.
Development Gateway Foundation requires that all projects be part of a national e-government strategy designed to support overall development goals. To ensure rapid implementation and immediate value for all partners, projects funded through Development Gateway Foundation must rely on studies and plans that have already been endorsed by the implementing governments.

Lebanon: e-Procurement
The government of Lebanon is planning to connect five ministries through an e-government system that aims to cut costs by streamlining their procurement processes and opening them to more competitive bidding online. The first phase of the system is being deployed with technical assistance and a grant from Development Gateway Foundation's E-government Grants Program.
This first phase includes the installation and upgrading of back-office systems, creation of a public procurement Web site, and training. The government's Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform is the designated implementing agency.

Mozambique: GovNet-Pilot
In 2004 Development Gateway Foundation awarded a grant to the government of Mozambique to implement the first phase of their Government Electronic Network (GovNet). The GovNet pilot project was completed in April 2005. It connected 500 civil servants in 15 key institutions, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health. It provided them with a common intranet, a unified email system and policies, more cost-effective access to the Internet and a shared public Web portal to enable better public access to information.
